Rosalie Bower Amoroso, Executive Director, has studied dance since the age of 3 receiving much of her childhood training from her parents. She went on to be a scholarship student receiving specialized training in Ballet, Pointe, and Character dance at the School of American Ballet in New York City where she served as an apprentice with the New York City Ballet. While in New York, Rosalie studied Jazz, Tap, and Acrobatic with the June Taylor School of Dance.
Rosalie has several years of professional dance experience. She is a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette appearing in numerous television productions and benefit performances as well as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She has also performed with the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus as an aerial acrobat.
Rosalie is the recipient of Ithaca’s Centennial Award for outstanding achievement in the performing arts and has been director/teacher/choreographer of the Ithaca Academy of Dance for 45 years. She is a qualified member of Dance Educators of America. Rosalie is also a judge for Dance Competition for Dance Educators of America.
Rosalie is also employed by the Cornell University Athletic Department.
Tammy J. Johnson trained in all genres of dance at the Ithaca Academy of Dance. She went on to study dance, choreography, acting, and voice at Ithaca College, and took advanced private and class training at several New York City prestigious studios. Tammy has performed in numerous musicals, dance concerts, parades, and regional events and won over 450 dance and baton trophies and titles, including NYS Our Little Miss Pageant, NYS Talent Winner and is a 3-time Grand Champion of the NYS Fair Talent Showcase. She toured nationally with Dance Caravan and danced and sang professionally at Busch Gardens in Virginia. She continues her dance education at teacher seminars, most recently at New York City's Broadway Dance Center and The Pulse, which featured star choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance. Tammy has conducted master dance classes throughout New York and Illinois and has been an instructor and choreographer at IAD for the past 12 years. This past summer at the National Competition of Dance Theater USA, she received the Best Choreography Award. She recently completed her Masters Degree from Cornell University in Design and Environmental Analysis and continues to work at Cornell University in addition to teaching at IAD.
Laura Kathrein Comes to us from Chicago, IL. She has had extensive dance training in Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, and Jazz. She has trained under Altin Naska Co-Founder of the Southport Performing Arts Center and dancer with the Istanbul Opera and Ballet, and Greg Begley of Hubbard Street Dance Company. She has performed numerous times at Dance Chicago and A tribute to Ruth Paige. She is currently attending Ithaca College and is Co-Artistic Director of the Ithaca College Modern Dance Company. This is Laura's second year teaching at IAD.
Vivake Khamsingsavath is a hip hop choreographer, performer, and teacher from Binghamton, NY. His style is a reflection of the versatility and range in the genre. Vivake is an alumni at Binghamton University where he choreographed and performed with many organizations including the International Flag Dancers (IFD) and Black Dance Repertoire (BDR). He continues to teach workshops, choreograph performances, and train dancers at his Alma mater. He is a founding member of Quasi, a hip hop dance crew that competes and performs at many events on the East Coast. Vivake is also a member of Eselesse Dance Company&Ensemble and Pygmalion Dance Company, both with concentrations on contemporary and modern dance. Vivake earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and plans to earn his graduate degree in Journalism, at the same time pursue his passion in dance.
Bonnie Lawrence Hailing from Fishkill, N.Y. Bonnie comes to us with 15 years of extensive Ballet, Jazz, and Modern training. She has studied with Broadway Dance Center on many occasions including this past Summer where she just completed a two month dance internship. She is attending Ithaca College, double majoring in the Performing Arts and Cinema Production. While at Ithaca College she continues to dance with ICUnbound and Rock Hard Dance Company.
Michelle Smithers began dancing at the Ithaca Academy of Dance at the age of three. Michele was on the IAD competition team and danced in New York City,Orlando, Las Vegas and New Orleans. She has been on the IAD faculty for 12 years and continues to further her education by attending annual seminars at Dance Caravan, Dance Educators of America, and Dance Theater USA. |
